How do I fix lag issues?
Laptops (and some desktops) often have performance issues with certain software due to their dual GPU setup. To fix this, you can instruct Windows to use the high-performance GPU for specific programs.
Windows 11
Configure through Windows Graphics settings
- Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings
- Scroll down to the bottom and click Graphics
- Click Browse under the "Custom options for apps" section
- Navigate to the program you want to use the high-performance GPU for (e.g., for REFINE go to the "C:\Uneekor\REFINE" folder and select the “REFINE_Run” executable; for GameDay go to the "C:\Uneekor\GameDay\Gameday_G\Binaries\Win64" folder and select the "G3_Main-Win64-Shipping executable)
- Once the program is added to the list, click on Options
- Select High performance, then save
Windows 10
Configure through NVIDIA Control Panel
- Open the NVIDIA Control Panel from the Start menu or the system tray
- Go to 3D Settings > Manage 3D settings in the left sidebar
- Select the Program Settings tab
- Click Add and locate the software you want to optimize (e.g., for REFINE go to the "C:\Uneekor\REFINE" folder and select the “REFINE_Run” executable; for GameDay go to the "C:\Uneekor\GameDay\Gameday_G\Binaries\Win64" folder and select the "G3_Main-Win64-Shipping executable)
- Click Add Selected Program
- If available, change the preferred graphics processor from "Integrated graphics" to High-performance NVIDIA processor
- Click Apply and close the NVIDIA Control Panel
Once you have configured the desired software to use the high-performance GPU by following the above steps, try running it again and see if the performance improves.
For those who continue to experience performance issues, please ensure that your PC meets the system requirements.
